Documentary: Silent Shoal (78mins)
Close to Taipei City, Sanchong and Luzhou used to be shoals that are not suitable for living. Due to the rapid development in about twenty years, the shattered old houses there gradually disappeared. The old houses lived through the history of development. They seemed silent, but they are not speechless. By viewing six old houses, the documentary discusses the relation between the conservation of historical spots and us.

Forum: Absurdity at the Satanic City
Is a city that persists in constructing endlessly suitable for living? Is it that a city abandoning its memories can achieve sustainability? Does the convenience of a city directly lead to the happiness of the dwellers? Do the frequent changes and rapid development of a city represent the progress of civilization?
Speaker: Rai-Moa Huang
Professor Rai-Moa Huang, or Teacher A-Moa, has long been paying attention to city development and community building as an expert of environment management. Calling himself “an actor of space reformation”, Huang leads the non-profit group Organization of Urban Re-s and frequently voices for unbalanced urban-rural development.
Director: Sophie Seeing
Devoting to writing and screening work for more than a decade, Seeing started to screen documentaries in recent years. She hopes to deliver and interpret the world we see more completely with the combination of images and sounds. So far she has had three documentaries published: Silent Shoals (discussing the issue of historical sites conservation), Battle at Penghu Bay (viewing civil consciousness with the gambling referendum), and We Love Photography (regarding the environment of photography in Taiwan), and now she is shooting a documentary about city development.
