Collapsing Ourselves
Mattin的”音樂會”將忤逆自由意志和自我表達的意
探索即興表演的可能性

Basque聲音藝術家Mattin長期在噪音和即興表
王虹凱創作主要以聲音做為概念性手段來探究社會政治關係

We want to collaborate but we don’t want to do music as it is usually understood, nevertheless we will do a concert.
We will reflect on the material conditions that we are embedded in.
We want to learn if it is possible to experience the world we live in on the basis of differences and not only in terms of identity, even though we might be tested and suffer in the process.
We will share that process which is contingent on how we gather conditions.
——-
How can we conceive free improvisation
in conditions of unfreedom?
Mattin’s concert will explore improvisation
against the notion of free will
and self-expression.

Mattin is a Basque artist working with noise and improvisation. His work seeks to address the social and economic structures of experimental sonic artistic production through live performance, recordings and writing.Using a conceptual approach, he aims to question the nature and parameters of improvisation, specifically the relationship between the idea of ”freedom” and constant innovation that it traditionally implies, and the established conventions of improvisation as a genre. He considers improvisation not only as an interaction between performers and instruments, but as a situation involving all the elements that constitute a concert situation, including the audience and the social and architectural space. He tries to expose the stereotypical relation between active performer and passive audience, producing a sense of strangeness and alienation that disturbs this relationship. http://www.mattin.org/
Born in Yunlin, Taiwan, Hong-Kai Wang works with sound as a conceptual means to investigate social relations and the construction of new social space, focused on a collaborative and process-driven approach to production. Her work spans interventions, performance, workshops, publication and installations, in a networked excavation of social memory embedded in listening and sound as forms of perceptual, cognitive organization and of political questions of relation and harmony. http://w-h-k.net/
