Printed matter as a conventional and experimental medium keeps the flexible distribution and sustainable preservation quality that is hard to be outreached by exhibitions or live stages. It provides different potentialities for artists to explore alternative narratives and visual communication—not only in the service of documentation, but as a conceptual object. As a peculiar art object, artist book travels in-between its multiple attributions as a medium, a space, an object, an agent or media. Art book fair that becomes an emerging trend in New York, London, Singapore, Tokyo and so on further reveals possible forms of practices and experiments in the age of Web 2.0: the objecthood of art book is waiting for more interventions.
Yu-Cheng Chou will share his previous production experiences on his books A Working History – Lu Chieh-Te and Aki. Tyler Coburn will launch his publication Robots Building Robots, which is generated from his research in Taiwan last year. Freya Chou will address her imaginations for art publishing, and Kit Hamonds will talk about how artist book as a social object functions in relationship to events and convene social spaces for artists.

He studied at the l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, and the research program – La Seine, at l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris. Chou’s art project expresses his intentions by emphasizing the procedure and operation behind his work. To a certain degree, he focuses on how to produce an alternative method of operation that simultaneously reflects the problems of reality and proffers alternatives with their corresponding benefits. His intention is to reflect on the existing state of society, politics, and the economy, as well as on local issues.
Tyler Coburn
