《燃燒的年代:獨立文化、青年世代和公共精神》試圖描繪當下台灣文化的幾個重要趨勢:獨立文化、青年世代和公共精神,這些力量不僅改變了當代台灣文化的內涵,更衝擊了既有的政治版圖與經濟模式。書名主標「燃燒的年代」,這些力量在過去年在台灣和香港,在新舊典範之間、新舊想像之間、新舊資源和權力之間的猛烈衝撞與摩擦,造成了熊熊火焰。
本書也試圖在這些文章中探索文化與政治與商業力量的糾葛,拆解文化作品背後的意識形態和權力關係,以探索一條文化自主性之路。在這裡,我們既要拆解,也要重建。
此場座談邀請兩位犀利的文化評論者/工作者吳牧青、楊緬因,和各位關注台灣文化的朋友,一起來拆解與重建,以重新想像我們這個時代的文化。
主講人:
張鐵志
台灣與華人世界中活躍的文化與政治評論人,文章廣見於台港中馬主要媒體與國際媒體中文網。作為媒體工作者,他一直探索不同媒體的實驗,曾參與創辦網路新聞媒體《報導者》、網路政策節目《政問》(擔任主持人與主編)、《彭博商業周刊/中文版》,並曾赴香港擔任《號外》雜誌總編輯暨聯合出版人推動雜誌轉型。現亦擔任《數位時代》雜誌首席顧問、閱樂書店總顧問。張鐵志長期參與與關注公民運動,擔任過多個社會與文化性質NGO理監事,現為台北當代藝術中心監事。亦曾擔任2011年威尼斯雙年展台灣館團隊成員與2015年混種藝術節音樂影展策展人。
張鐵志為紐約哥倫比亞大學政治學博士候選人,曾任教於台灣清華大學、台北藝術大學、香港中文大學等。著有《聲音與憤怒:搖滾樂可以改變世界嗎?》、《時代的噪音:從狄倫到U2的抗議之聲》等書。
吳牧青
台北人,在夾層世代的1977年出生。制式的學院生涯學的是商管,野放的人生則是無樂不做的藝文芝麻綠豆事,還在思考下列事情作用於人生的差異︰策展人生vs記者人生、評論寫作者vs故事寫作者、文化行動者vs政策建議者、爬山人生vs趴地人生、無菸寫作vs菸管寫作,以上種種被駭入人生的角色,其內心拉鋸與綿延不絕之後青春期的(不是詩)叛逆,導致他成為迄今藝文界寫作範圍最廣、寫作效率和紀律最差的一位作者,並且充滿爭議。現今其煞有介事的(無薪)職銜為台灣視覺藝術協會常務理事。
楊緬因
1988年生,為電影與廣告配樂創作者,作品包括《牽阮的手》原創配樂。於2014-2016年投入選舉幕僚工作,現居台北,於泰順街經營「公共冊所」二手書店並於《新新聞》寫作「戰鬥音樂學」專欄。

The Era of Burning: Independent Culture, Youth Generation and Public Spirit attempts to depict a few important tendencies of contemporary Taiwanese Culture: independent culture, youth culture and public spirits which have been the transforming forces of contemporary culture in Taiwan and brought forth new impacts on the existing political and economical models. The title indicates the burning conflicts and crashes among the new and old cannons, imaginations, resources and power structures.
This book investigates the new entanglements among the cultural, political and commercial powers to explore a new path for cultural autonomy by deconstruct the ideologies and power relations behind the cultural production. It addresses to the deconstruction as well as the reconstruction cultural engineering.
Two critical figures Muching Wu and Brandin Ko Yang from the cultural sphere are invited for this conversation to reimagine the culture of our era in such co-engineering process.
About speakers:
Tieh-Chih Chang is an active critic in culture and politics, and his articles are widely distributed among the mainstream media and international media’s Chinese networks in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. He has been keen on experimenting new media experiments in his long-term practice. Chang co-initiate the online news media The Reporter, online political talk show Talk to Taiwan (as host and Chief Editor), Bloomberg Businessweek Chinese Edition, and served as the Chief Editor and Co-publisher of City Magazine to promote the transformation of the magazine. At the moment, he is also the Chief Consultant of Business Next and Yue Yue Bookstore. Chang has engaged in the civil society’s movements for a long period and served in many NGOs’ board, including the auditor of Taipei Contemporary Art Center. He participated in the Taiwan Pavilion team for the 2011 Venice Biennale, and was the music film festival curator in 2015 On Site ArtFest.
Tieh-Chih Chang is a PhD candidate in Political Science, Columbia University. He has been giving lectures in Tsing Hua University, National Taipei University of Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong, etc. He is also the author of Sounds and Fury: Can Rock & Roll Change the World?, The Sounds of Resistance : from Bob Dylan to U2, etc.
Muching Wu, working and resident in Taipei, is born in 1977 as mezzanine generation of Taiwan population. School life was majoring in accounting and business administration while as engaging in multidisciplinary artistic project of contemporary art, performing arts, new music, film and cultural criticism. Still thinking about the difference in life: curatorial life vs. journalist/editor life, criticism writing and story writing, activist vs. policy advisors, mountaineering person vs. raver/clubber, no-cigarrette writing and cigarrette writing. All the roles of above as hacked as what he is and lead him into almost everlasting rebellious phase of his late post-puberta, therefore he is the one who may write most diversity issue in cultural writer but bad efficiency with full of debate. Now he is the executive council member of Association Association of the Visual Arts in Taiwan (AVAT).
Brandin Ko Yang (b. 1988) is a composer whose works include original soundtracks for films and commercials. He had also been a political campaign manager involved in several elections in Taiwan. From 2012 he has run a secondhand bookstore “The Libratory” in Taipei.
