創辦於2006年的雪城大學倉庫畫廊(Warehouse Gallery)為設立於美國紐約市中心-雪城的國際當代藝術中心,此藝廊同時服務當地社區。
倉庫畫廊在每年定期舉辦四場展覽,於兩個其主要展區中分別著眼於本土的和國際的藝術家作品,另預計於7月24日 舉辦Window展覽空間計畫在West Fayette 街展出。
Anja Chavez 在本次演講中將介紹倉庫畫廊的使命、計劃與策展方向,同時也將談及最近與學院、學生、社區的成員,甚或前往參訪之藝術家們之間的一些合作方案。會中,將以雪城公立學校學生參訪為例,分享這些新世代青少年在工作坊期間參訪藝術家工作或互動的過程。

關於Anja Chavez
Anja Chavez 是紐約雪城大學(Syracuse University)倉庫畫廊(Warehouse Gallery)與SUArt 藝廊(SUArt Galleries)的當代藝術策展人。曾任職於戴維斯博物館 (Davis museum) 、韋爾斯利學院(Wellesley College)文化中心 、波士頓藝術博物館(the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston)、慕尼黑林巴赫之家市政美術館(the Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich)、巴黎龐畢度中心( Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris )。她曾就讀於巴黎索邦/第四大學、巴黎高等師範(Ecole Normale Suprieure (Paris))和德國波恩大學(University of Bonn (Germany))並於波恩大學獲取博士學位。Anja Chavez曾因策劃Steve McQueen 和徐冰(Xu Bing)的展覽而榮獲AICA獎項。
Chavez目前是進駐竹圍工作室的策展人,在此對台灣當代藝術家進行研究與調查。此計畫將於2013年在雪城大學倉庫畫廊展出。
Outline
The Warehouse Gallery at Syracuse University, founded in 2006, is an international contemporary art center located in downtown Syracuse, New York (USA) and serving the local community. There are four exhibitions per year for each of the two spaces: the main space geared towards national and international artists and the Window Projects space viewable 24/7 on West Fayette Street.
Anja Chavez will talk about The Warehouse Gallery’s mission, programming, curatorial direction, and the close collaboration between faculty, students, community members, and visiting artists, as well as its impact on a younger generation of Syracuse public school children who come to observe the artists at work or interact with them during workshops.
Anja Chavez
Anja Chavez is Curator of Contemporary Art at The Warehouse Gallery and SUArt Galleries at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. Prior to that position she worked at the Davis Museum and Cultural Center at Wellesley College, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich (Germany), and the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (France).She studied at the Universite Paris-Sorbonne IV, the Ecole Normale Suprieure (Paris) and the University of Bonn (Germany), where she received her PhD. Anja Chavez is the recipient of AICA awards for exhibitions of work by Steve McQueen and Xu Bing. Throughout her career Anja Chavez has successfully solicited major works of art; most recently the installation “American Ream” by Marco Maggi, which entered SU collections in 2009.
Chavez is currently the curator in-residence at Bamboo Culture International to research contemporary Taiwanese art. This project will lead to an exhibition at the Warehouse Gallery at Syracuse University (2013).
