約翰‧蒙特斯 志趣相投：公開徵件
我們誠摯地邀請您參與臺北當代藝術中心（TCAC）舉辦的一場演出／社區活動／閱讀／行為／項目，作為加拿大藝術家約翰‧蒙特斯 (John Monteith) 展覽〈志趣相投〉中的一部分。展覽將從 2018年10月20日持續至 11月3日。本計畫為TCAC 年度帶狀節目 《2 Weeks 異度空間》的第四單元，並與台北同志遊行同期舉行，同時為 2018大稻埕國際藝術節的一部分。
計劃〈志趣相投〉將圍繞反國族主義、差異性及多元化等議題展開，蒙特斯將在台北當代藝術中心進行一系列基於近期抽象風格之旗幟創作。這些旗幟作為一組獨特的物件，反轉透過旗幟產生的特定的政治目的基本功能，凸顯「酷兒空間」中代表反霸權異托邦之精神，同時考慮到詮釋、連結和相關性間的潛力。透過這些「非單一性」的共同精神，在齊聚之時，代表著遇見、寬容、參與和社區營造的開放空間。
提案繳交資料應該包含計畫簡短的描述（不超過200字），個人或團隊的簡歷，五張過去演出或活動的影像紀錄，五分鐘的音樂或是影動態影像紀錄。
歡迎投遞你的提案，提案於空間內進行時間不超過一個小時，獲選提案將於 2018年10月20日至 11月3日內擇定日期進行。提案投遞截止日期為 2018 年 8 月 20 日。

關於藝術家
約翰‧蒙特斯 (b. 加拿大)，畢業於紐約帕森設計學院美術研究所（2008）與安大略藝術設計學院 藝術系（1997）。作品曾展出於：第七屆北京雙年展、倫敦泰特現代藝術館、柏林辛克爾展覽館、 紐約X Initiative、DUMBO 藝術中心、胡志明市Sàn Art 及巴塞爾SALTS。藝術家曾駐村於：德 國科隆的社群藝術團隊（2011）、瑞士Kunsthalle Roveredo（2014）。2018 年秋也將成為北京 I Project 空間的駐村藝術家。 有關於藝術家之藝術評論與文章被刊載於《美國藝術》（平面與線上刊物）、《Charley》、10 月號第135 期《C 雜誌》、《哈芬登郵報》、《K-48》、《Petit Mort: 奇怪公眾的回憶》、《紐 約客》及www.disorientations.com 等。 蒙特斯曾獲得由加拿大藝術協會、安大略省藝術協會及多倫多藝術協會資助，目前由加拿大 Division Gallery 和瑞士Galerie Wenge 代理。生活工作於加拿大多倫多，同時也擔任多倫多大學建築學院講師。

2 Weeks #4 Kindred Spirits: Call for participants
We would like to invite you to propose a performance, community event, reading, action or project that will be staged at the Taipei Contemporary Art Centre (TCAC) as part of Canadian Artist John Monteith’s exhibition Kindred Spirits running from October 20 – November 3 2018.
Kindred Spirits is a part of TCAC 2018 annual program 2 Weeks and also as part of Tua-Tiu-Tiann International Festival of Arts （TTTIFA 大稻埕國際藝術節）. Kindred Spirits is an exhibition curated in the spirit of anti-nationalism, difference and diversity happening over Pride. Installed in the Taipei Contemporary Art Centre, Monteith is creating a series of flags based on recent abstract drawings. Demarcating a “queer space” representing the spirit of a non-hegmonic heterotopia, as a grouping of singular unique objects these flags eschew a specific political agenda or affiliation, while allowing for the potential of a breadth of interpretation, association, and interrelatedness. Through their non-specificity, they refer to a communal spirit, and when flown together represent an open space of meeting, tolerance, participation, and community building.
Welcome to summit your proposal. Proposals should consist of a brief description of the work you would like to propose, no more than 200 words, a CV and biography, no more than 5 images of past projects or 5 minutes of video or sound recording.
The duration of your proposed work should be no longer than one hour. The selected proposals will be presented on scheduled dates during 2018.10.20 – 11.3 and The deadline for submission is August 20th 2018.

The Artist
John Monteith (b. Canada) graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from Parsons, the New School for Design (2008) and his BFA at The Ontario College of Art and Design University (1997). He has exhibited internationally including exhibitions at the 7th Beijing Biennale, the Tate Modern, London, The Schinkel Pavilion, Berlin, X Initiative, New York, the DUMBO Art Center, New York, Sàn Art, Ho Chi Minh City, and SALTS, Basel. Monteith has held residencies at CAT Cologne, Germany (2011), Kunsthalle Roveredo, Switzerland (2014) and in fall 2018 he will be the resident artist at I Project Space, Beijing. Reviews and essays dedicated to his work have been included in Art in America, (print and online), Charley, C Magazine, October 135, The Huffington Post, K-48, Petit Mort: Recollections of a Queer Public, The New Yorker, www.disorientations.com, and others. Monteith has been awarded grants from The Canada Council for the Arts, The Ontario Arts Council, and The Toronto Arts Council. Represented by Division Gallery in Canada and Galerie Wenger in Switzerland he currently lives and works in Toronto, Canada where he is a faculty member of the University of Toronto, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design.
